SYRACUSE -- The Carrier Dome is getting ready to host its first Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam event. Work gets underway this morning. That means instead of the hardwood of Jim Boehiem Court or the turf used for football and lacrosse, the floor of the Dome will have to be covered in dirt. Lots of dirt.
Before the dirt arrives, today some 5,000 sheets of plywood will arrive. Work crews will spend the day installing the plywood on the field.
Tomorrow, we're told some 250 dump truck loads of dirt will arrive beginning at 7:30 a.m., and work teams will have to spend the rest of the day spreading the dirt just right for Saturday's big show featuring the top names in monster trucks, including Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Captain's Curse and many more.
