SYRACUSE -- Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney has appointed Robert Cox to fill a vacant seat for the 12th District of the Onondaga County Legislature.
Cox is a partner in the law firm Pappas & Cox, P.C. in Syracuse, and a graduate of SUNY-ESF and SU's College of Law.
Cox is filling the seat vacated by Robert DeMore, who was appointed to a different position in the county administration.

"I am happy to accept County Executive Joanie Mahoney's appointment to serve on the County Legislature," said Robert Cox. "This is a very important juncture in Onondaga County's history and I look forward to working with the County Executive and my fellow legislator's in addressing the issues we are facing."
"I have known Bob Cox for years and worked with him on many issues in the Town of Pompey, the most recent being our efforts to keep Pratt's Falls open," said Pompey Town Supervisor Carole Marsh. "Bob is a common sense type leader who will truly be a people's legislator."
Cox will fill the seat vacated by former legislator Robert DeMore. DeMore left the Legislature to assume the position of Director of Community Development for Onondaga County. County Executive Mahoney has begun the legal process of the appointment and the official swearing in will occur on March 15, 2011.
Cox is a partner in the law firm of Pappas & Cox, P.C. in Syracuse, NY. He is a graduate of the State University of New York College of Forestry at Syracuse University and Syracuse University College of Law.
