Auburn man killed in SUV, school bus accident

MORAVIA -- Cayuga County Sheriff's are investigating a deadly car accident involving a school bus in the Town of Moravia.

Sheriff's say at 12:19 Tuesday afternoon, a 2006 Saturn SUV was traveling south on State Route 38. Investigators say Thomas Bolak, 44, of Case Avenue in Auburn, was behind the wheel of the SUV when it crossed into the path of an oncoming First Student school bus and collided. Bolak was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff's say Benedict Badalamenti, 78, of Van Liew Road in Auburn was the bus driver. He was not hurt.

Investigation and Accident Reconstruction is being completed by the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office.

Cayuga County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Moravia Police Department, New York State Police, Four Town Ambulance, Moravia Fire Department and Scipio Fire Department.
