SYRACUSE -- A well known priest in Syracuse has passed away.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse says Rev. Msgr. Peter Gleba died Wednesday morning at the age of 84. He was taken to the hospital on Saturday shortly after a Funeral Mass.
Msgr. Gleba has served in the diocese for 58 years. He spent the last 22 years at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Syracuse.
Bishop Robert J. Cunningham released a statement saying, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Msgr. Gleba...He was a caring pastor and a well loved priest who continued to serve as pastor, well beyond the normal retirement age. He was a man who was proud of his Polish heritage, lived his Catholic faith and truly loved his priesthood."
Funeral arrangements have not yet been set.
