CICERO -- Update, 7:45pm:
CNY Central has learned that those who turned out to attending tonight's tax reassessment meeting were told to leave the Cicero Town Hall because of a fire hazard. Officials say too many people inside the meeting hall presented a danger. A sole representative of the group was selected to meet with lawmakers.
A second meeting focusing only on the reassessment issue is scheduled for next week. A specific time and date are not known at this time.
Original story:
A tax reassessment plan, is digging a deep hole in some Cicero homeowners wallets, and is costing some thousands of dollars.
Wednesday night, some of those affected are meeting with lawmakers at 7 at the Cicero Town Hall to voice their disapproval.
Several Cicero residents have formed a group called Cicero Unfair Tax. They have a Facebook page and about 170 people attended a recent meeting, according to organizer Ruth Willis. The group wants the Town of Cicero to re-start the tax assessment process and have more realistic and consistent assessment.
