Sarah House calls itself the adult equivalent to the Ronald McDonald House: it's where family members can stay if an adult (instead of a child) is in a hospital in the Syracuse area.
Running the 'hospitality house,' a two storey 9-bedroom home near Most Holy Rosary Church in Syracuse's Strathmore neighborhood, is an ongoing effort, and Jen Coman, it's director, says they get no federal funds, and also do not turn away people in need for lack of funds.
"Down Home Hospitality' is the theme of a fundraiser coming up on Tuesday. It will feature dinner, auction of arts and crafts by local artisans, and bluegrass music. It's 5:30 - 8:30 at the State Fair's Empire Room.
Tickets: 475-1747, or at sarahhouse@cnymail.com. You can see more about Sarah House at their website.
