Liverpool Legion Auxiliary coordinating effort
There are at least 100 homeless veterans in the Syracuse area, and now there's an effort to help get them into transitional housing. Dawn Clarry says the American Legion Auxiliary in Liverpool is collecting basic home furnishings to make that transition easier.
Bedclothes, including sheets (full or twin size), blankets, pillows, and mattress covers, as well as bath and kitchen furnishings like towels and soap dispensers, pots and pans and dishes, and basic furnishings like lamps and alarm clocks are suggestions. They'll also collect gift cards to stores where basic items are sold.
Clarry says the Auxiliary will hold a 'Shower' for homeless veterans on March 31, 11am - 6pm, at the Liverpool Legion on Cypress Street. Or, dropoffs are accepted at: Seneca Federal Savings (Liverpool Branch), Lakeview Barbershop (First St), West Side Manor Assisted Living (Longbranch Road), and the Legion Post until the end of the month.
