OSWEGO -- A 52-year-old Oswego woman is hospitalized in critical condition this morning after being struck by a car Monday afternoon.

Oswego police say Karen Russell was hit at the intersection of East First and East Bridge Streets.

Police say Russell was conscious and talking when they arrived at the scene around 1:42 p.m. Monday afternoon. Witnesses say the driver of a car traveling north on East First Street had the green arrow to turn left on to East Bridge Street, when he hit Russell in the crosswalk.

A nursing supervisor at University Hospital says Russell remains in critical condition.

The driver of the car, David Kyle, 50, of Sterling, was ticketed for failure to exercise due care.
