LAFAYETTE -- Interstate 81 Northbound is back open from LaFayette to Nedrow after it was shut down for about two hours late Thursday night.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says a Syracuse man is charged with driving while intoxicated for causing a chain-reaction crash around 9:30 Thursday night. Witnesses to the crash say 26-year-old Alexander Nicklaw, of 516 Salisbury Park Drive, lost control of his car, crashing into a guardrail and causing a chain of crashes involving five other vehicles and a tractor trailer.
Nicklaw's car and four other vehicles were badly damaged.
Sheriff's deputies say two people were hurt, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Nicklaw is charged with driving while intoxicated. He's set to appear in Town of Lafayette court on April 13th.
I-81's northbound lanes reopened shortly after 11:00 p.m.

It happened around 9:30 tonight. 911 dispatch reports 4 vehicles and a tractor-trailer were involved. Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputies say 2 people were hurt, but their injuries are not considered life threatening.
