LOWVILLE -- A Lowville woman is accused of lying about losing her purse so she could get more prescription drugs.

State police arrested Shannon Wicks, 41, of Hodge Road, for falsely reporting an incident.

Police say she told them she lost her purse with prescription medication inside while shopping at Wal-Mart in Lowville on March 22nd.

But police say Wicks was never at Wal-Mart and made up the story so she could get a refill of her medication from her doctor. Police say the prescription had recently been filled and the doctor wouldn't prescribe anymore. Police say she thought by claiming she lost her purse with the medicine inside, her doctor would write her another prescription.

Wicks was issued an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lowville Court on April 7th.
