Gas line break, Oswego and Shonnard Streets, Syracuse
 / Craig McDowell
SYRACUSE -- A big gas main break is disrupting traffic and closing some offices on Syracuse's west side.
The alert came in around 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Shonnard and Oswego Streets.
We're told a 2-inch high pressure gas main ruptured. Deputy Fire Chief Bob Cussen says circular saws were being used by city crews to cut pavement at the intersection when a gas line was hit.
Homes near the intersection were checked for gas and cleared. Firefighters and National Grid crews were on the scene.
Because of the rupture, the Spanish Action League is closed for the rest of the day.
We are getting word of a gas line break. Onondaga County 911 dispatchers tell us a 2 inch high pressure gas line broke this morning in the area of Oswego and Shonnard Streets.
The Spanish Action League is closed today because of the break.
We have a news crew en route to the scene. Stay with CNYCentral for updates.
