MARCELLUS -- 6-Year-Old Gavin Isgar from Marcellus loves collecting and building Legos, but his world of spaceships and ninjas faded when Gavin saw the pictures of devastation from Japan on the news.
"It was sad," said Gavin.
For months, Gavin has been saving up his allowance and birthday money for a brand new Lego set, and he decided it could wait a little longer.
"He came out of his room and said, 'daddy I want to donate all my money to Japan,'" said Fred Isgar, Gavin's dad.
And not just anywhere--Gavin wanted to bring some joy to kids his age who lost everything in the earthquake and tsunami.
"I'm buying toys for the children in Japan."
Gavin and his family set a goal of $500 and less than two weeks later, Gavin has brought in $620. He wants to buy the toys himself and his family will help him pack and ship them to a contact Gavin's father made in Japan.
"6-years-old, and I'm as proud as can be," said Fred. "He came up with this idea all on his own. My wife and I were in tears. He's got such a big heart."
