We continue to check in with our Biggest Loser contestant. Darryl Sanford, 41, of Syracuse, is on a mission to change his life. He has already lost 33 pounds during his latest weight loss effort. This week, he was feeling under the weather and didn't lose any weight. But he has done a great job so far and remains motivated to continue on his weight loss path.
This morning Darryl and his trainer, Barb St. Pierre from Trillium Fitness, appeared on Today in Central New York on NBC 3 to talk about the importance of interval training.
Interval training is a mix of bursts of intense activity with intervals of lighter activity, like running and then walking. It will help you burn more calories, improve aerobic capacity, keep you motivated by mixing up your workout routine. And best of all, you don't have to buy any additional exercise equipment to do it. Just run up the stairs and walk back down or run and then slow down your pace to a brisk walk.
