New rankings show Tompkins County is the healthiest in Central New York, and among the top in the state.
A new report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute ranks Tompkins County as the 4th healthiest county in New York. Putnam County gets the top rank and Bronx County is 62nd.
The second best in our area is Madison County at 16th. The report also shows a few miles can make a big difference. Surrounding Madison County are Onondaga at 40th, Oswego at 41st, and Oneida at 53rd.
The report looked at factors like health behaviors, clinical care, the physical environment, and social and economic factors.
