Suspicious activity reported in Vernon: Did you see Carpet Doctor van?

VERNON, ONEIDA CO. -- Rome police are investigating suspicious activity that happened in the Town of Vernon this morning.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. on Route 26. Oneida County Sheriff's deputies got a call from Yerkie's Trailer Park that a vehicle was driving around in a field behind the park.

Deputies later learned a 2002 GMC white "Carpet Doctor" van was stolen from 713 Liberty Street in Rome.

Deputies also learned that tools found in the van had been stolen from another person on Liberty Street. Rome police are now investigating the thefts.
