UTICA -- Utica police and a neighbor team up to catch a burglar.
Utica police say just before midnight Thursday, a man who lives on Schuyler Street came home from work and heard what sounded like a door or window slamming. They say he then saw the light from a flashlight darting around inside another home.
At the same time, two police officers happened to be patrolling Schuyler Street when the good Samaritan waived down the officers and told them what he saw.
The officers went into the house, and when they looked inside, they saw a man moving around inside holding a knapsack. Then, they noticed a broken window.
When other officers arrived on the scene, they went into the house and found the suspect inside.
Souksakhone Dongsavanh, 41, of Noyes Street, was arrested and charged with burglary and possession of burglars tools.
