UTICA -- A Utica man is accused of punching his wife and choking her.

It happened Sunday around 8:07 p.m. at a home at 1229 Seymour Avenue. Police were called to the home for a report of a domestic violence incident.

Police say La Kbaw, 41, punched his wife above her eye and then choked her until she couldn't breathe. She sustained a small welt above her left eye, but refused any medical treatment.

Kbaw was taken into police custody and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment.
