SYRACUSE -- A new housing report out today finds foreclosure rates in the Syracuse area are on the rise.
The figures from Corelogic show foreclosure rates up in January 2011 over 2.5 percent. That's nearly three quarters of one percent higher than the same time last year.
The good news is that Syracuse's foreclosure rate is actually lower than the national foreclosure rate, which sits at more than 3.5 percent.
The report also finds homeowners are having trouble keeping up with their mortgages. The local delinquency rate is almost 5.5 percent, which is higher than last year.
Last month we told you how foreclosure rates were on the rise in Syracuse in December over the same period last year. The rate was 2.63 percent in December 2010 compared to 1.99 percent the previous December.
