NORWICH (AP) -- A state panel has cited two town justices in central New York for fixing a traffic ticket for a school bus driver.
The state Commission on Judicial Conduct says Town of Guilford Justice David Daniels was censured and Norwich Town Court Justice David Evans agreed to step down and not take a judicial office in the future.
The commission found Daniels, who is also a school transportation official in Norwich, improperly intervened on behalf of a city school bus driver who was ticketed in 2008 following a minor accident. Daniels told the commission that he didn't attempt to fix the ticket and only took it to Evans' court as a favor to his co-worker.
Evans dismissed the ticket. He was charged with granting or appearing to grant special consideration.
