CARTHAGE, JEFFERSON CO. -- A Carthage man is charged with rape. State police arrested 22-year-old Michael Cox, of Bridge, Street, on two counts of rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say Cox had sexual contact with a child younger than 17-years-old. Investigators say Cox had sexual intercourse with the child in the Great Bend area sometime during July and August of 2010.

He was arraigned in the Town of Wilna Court and sent to the Jefferson County Jail on $1,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to re-appear in court on April 11th.
