Volunteer fire departments across the state are trying to beef up their numbers this weekend.
Departments are holding open houses to recruit new members. it's the first state-wide recruitment effort of its kind.
In Fairmount, the department says their numbers are adequate, but they could always use more.
"Everybody I think wants to boost up their numbers," says Fairmount Fire Chief Jason Mallore. "We can always use more. We're doing fairly well right now. The response has been excellent for us."
The recruiting effort goes through Sunday.
