LIVERPOOL -- Three years later, the memory of Samantha Reynolds is still fresh in the minds of so many in the community.
Her family's van was hit three years ago today by a drunk driver in South Carolina when he veered into the other lane. The family was on the way to Disney World.
Tonight, family, friends and community members gathered at the Butterfly Garden of Hope at Onondaga Lake Park to remember Reynolds.
She was only 14 when she was killed. Reynolds was a student at Soule Road Middle School in Liverpool.
Samantha Reynolds two siblings. Her father and step-mother were also injured in the accident. The driver of the other car, Rafael Gonzalez-Martinez, is now serving a 25 year prison sentence.
Members of the Reynolds family say the vigil is not only about celebrating and remembering Samantha's life, but also raising awareness for drunk driving prevention.
