Believe it: Journey, Foreigner, and Night Ranger at the Fair

SYRACUSE -- The New York State Fair announced its second major act for the this year's Fair. Journey will take the stage August 30th at 7:30pm.  They'll be joined by Foreigner and Night Ranger.   Tickets go on sale May 7th.

Journey will bring its "Eclipse Tour" to the New York State Fair this summer along with Foreigner and Night Ranger, three of the most successful rock bands in music history.

 

The three classic rock bands, each with numerous gold and platinum albums, will perform on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand.

 

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7. They will cost $65 and $55 and will be available at the New York State Fair Box Office and through Ticketmaster. Admission to the Fair is included with the purchase of a Grandstand concert ticket on the day of the show. Sales will be limited to eight tickets per person for the first week of ticket sales.

 

"Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger are incredibly well-known rock bands," said Dan O'Hara, New York State Fair director. "These bands will put on an amazing show for Fairgoers."

 

Since its formation in 1973, Journey has earned 19 Top 40 singles and 25 gold and platinum albums in the U.S. alone.The band's "Greatest Hits" album is 15 times multi-platinum, bringing Journey into the elite club of Diamond-certified album holders. "Revelation," Journey's 2008 studio album, is the band's sixth album to reach double platinum worldwide.

 

Notable Journey songs include "Don't Stop Believing," "Faithfully," "Open Arms," "Stone In Love" and "Still They Ride." In 2008, Journey played at the New York State Fair Grandstand to a near sellout crowd of 16,411.

 

Journey will perform throughout the world in 2011-2012 during the "Eclipse Tour." The band is expected to release a new album, "Eclipse," on May 24. 

 

Foreigner is also one of the most popular rock acts in the world, racking up scores of smash hits, multi-platinum albums and sold-out concert tours. Using a thrilling mix of blustery blues and impeccably crafted pop, Foreigner has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide including hits such as "Cold As Ice," "Hot Blooded," "Juke Box Hero" and "I Want To Know What Love Is."

 

Night Ranger has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide. The band's popularity is fuelled by an impressive string of instantly recognizable hit singles and signature album tracks, including "Sister Christian," "(You Can Still) Rock In America," "When You Close Your Eyes," "Sentimental Street," "Goodbye" and "Don't Tell Me You Love Me."

 

Tickets to the concert will be available at the New York State Fair Box Office on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Box Office, which charges no service fees, will not be open again until the next on-sale date. Regular hours will begin in early July. No one will be allowed to line up to buy tickets before 6 a.m. on May 7.

 

Ticket sales will be cash only at the State Fair Box Office as long as there is a line of customers. Credit cards (MasterCard and Visa) will be accepted after the line is gone.

 

Fans can also buy tickets online through Ticketmaster.com or order and pay by phone by calling 1-800-745-3000 or 1-866-448-7849.

 

Tickets for people with special needs - including those who are hearing impaired, use a wheelchair or have difficulty climbing stairs - will go on sale at the same time as general seating tickets. They can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the New York State Fair Box Office.

 

Journey is the second announced concert of the seven major shows planned for the 2011 Grandstand concert series. Award winning country duo Sugarland with opening act Sara Bareilles will perform on Sept. 3. Tickets for that concert will also go on sale May 7.

 

More New York State Fair concerts will be announced as their ticket information is confirmed. The 2011 Fair will run from Aug. 25 to Sept. 5.
