SYRACUSE -- Syracuse police are investigating a shooting that took place in the city Thursday evening.

According to police, on Thursday evening 19-year-old Rashaun Yancey of Syracuse walked into Crouse Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right arm, having been driven there by a friend. Yancey and his friend told police that they were sitting in a green Dodge Caravan near the intersection of South State Street and Woodland Avenue around 8:25 p.m. The victims say a man walked up to their van and shot eight times into it, striking Yancey in the arm. Police say Yancey’s injuries are not considered life threatening.

The suspect is described as a black male, medium complexion, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with yellow letters on it. Anyone with any information on this case is asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222. Police say calls will be kept confidential.
