UTICA (AP) -- There was a little something extra in the paychecks of more than two dozen city of Utica employees.
Too bad it was a mistake made while correcting an earlier glitch.
The Observer-Dispatch reports that more than 300 city employees with direct deposit had the amount of their paychecks taken out of their bank account last week, instead of deposited.
City officials tell the newspaper that in correcting the mistake, 29 employees received double the payment of their normal paychecks. The city Comptroller's Office says it's working with the employees and various banks to correct the issue.
The direct deposits are handled by Bank of America, which is trying to determine how the mistakes happened.
