6 local soldiers 'tweet' their front line experiences

Among the many efforts to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Onondaga Historical Association has launched a Twitter Project:   for the next four years, there will be daily tweets from six Central New York soldiers who served in the Union Forces.

Gregg Tripoli, executive director of Onondaga Historical Association , tells us that the material comes from diaries and letters now in the OHA collections.  There is also background information on the soldiers on the OHA Website.  You can follow the Twitter Project , and Tripoli hopes it will bring that era of our history to life for younger people---schools have also been contacted to incorporate it into their history lessons.

OHA has other spring summer events planned:
June 8, 9 & 10:  opening for the Civil War Exhibit which corresponds with the Twitter Project
June 11th:  Creek Walk & Solvay Mansions and Gardens Tours
June 17/18 or 24/25:  Ghost walks at Oakwood Cemetery
June 22:  reopening of OHA exhibit areas, including new 1300 square foot store (which will be selling note cards featuring the art done by CNY soldiers at Civil War fronts.)
