UTICA -- A Utica man is accused of assaulting his wife.

Police arrested 36-year-old Jose Colon, of Crestway Place, and charged him with 3rd degree assault following a domestic dispute on Friday.

Police say Colon came home in the early morning hours and got into a fight with his wife after she picked up his cell phone that was ringing and found another girl's picture and phone number on it.

During the argument, police say Colon punched his wife in the face, then punched and kicked her. When police got there, they say the woman came out of the house, bleeding from her nose with blood all over her clothes. She sustained a cut to the bridge of her swollen nose, discoloration to her right eye, and red marks to both sides of her neck.

Police also removed several handguns from the home.
