AUBURN, CAYUGA CO. -- An Auburn man is accused of stealing bottles and cans out of a homeowner's garage on Van Anden Street.

Auburn police say 19-year-old Ryan Bond, of 254 State Street, walked into the garage Wednesday afternoon, tried to get into a car and then took off with three trash bags full of about 200 bottles and cans.

He was spotted carrying the bags through backyards near North Division Street and Van Anden Street by a police officer on routine patrol. When Bond realized he was being pursued, police say he started running, jumping over a fence. He was later taken into custody.

Bond is charged with burglary and petit larceny and is being held at the Cayuga County Jail.
