CENTRAL SQUARE -- An off-duty Oswego County sheriff's deputy was injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday.

The crash happened around 12:30 Sunday morning on Route 11 in Central Square, according to Central Square Police Chief Harland Fox. He says Jeremy Phillips was driving above the posted speed limit near St. Michael's Church. He was going around a curve when he went off the road and hit a concrete sign post for the church. Chief Fox does not know how fast Phillips was going.

Phillips was thrown from the bike and onto a lawn. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse in critical condition, and as of early Monday afternoon has been upgraded to serious condition.

The investigation into the crash continues.
