ELMIRA (AP) -- Authorities have charged a 20-year-old man with second-degree murder in the slaying of an Elmira bar owner.
Police tell local media outlets that 53-year-old Clinton "Billy" Lewis was found shot early Sunday morning inside his apartment across the street from his bar named Chill.
Officials say they've charged Louis Duffy of Horseheads with the slaying. He's being held in Chemung County Jail without bail. It couldn't be determined Monday morning if he has a lawyer.
Officials say the two men were acquaintances.
Police say they found Lewis in his apartment while checking out a report of a gunfire victim around 3 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to Arnot Ogden Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities say the weapon used in the shooting was recovered.
