CICERO -- If you drive down Beach Road in Cicero, it can be hard to tell where Oneida Lake ends and the road begins.
Neighbors say the lake has been overflowing for the past week, causing water to pool in the road. In some places, they say it's as high as their knees.
Jonathan Bruinsma says he's been using a canoe to visit his friend, who lives down the road.
"It's not normal. It's wet. I don't like it at all," says Bruinsma. "I just want my normal road back."
The road has been closed, so only necessary traffic can travel through the area. A Meals on Wheels van braved the floods to deliver much-needed food.
"We thought we'd take a chance," says Meals on Wheels volunteer Bob Jackson. "Probably I wouldn't recommend it to anybody, but we took a chance and got the meals through."
People who live on the road say there has been debris floating down the road and in the lake, including pieces of docks and trash. They say they haven't seen flooding this bad since 1993.
Cicero Town Supervisor Judy Boyke says the town has been doing all it can to help people with the flooding. She says the town has been offering sandbags. She has also used police patrols to make sure people who don't have to be on the road aren't driving down the street. She says if people drive through the flooding, it can make the damage worse.
Boyke says she is working with the county and exploring whether to declare a disaster to get financial assistance for the flooding.
