LYNCOURT -- The former Syracuse China factory has a new owner.

A Utica company bought the old factory and plans to demolish about two-thirds of it.

Salina Town Supervisor Mark Nicotra confirms Amparit Industries LLC will convert the rest of the building into a warehouse or manufacturing space.

Amparit bought the old factory on Court Street for $650,000. Syracuse China shut down the factory in April 2009, moving operations to China.

The company doesn't have permits yet to begin demolition. Eventually, most of the building will be torn down. Certainly, there's great public interest and hope that it can bring some life back to that part of Court Street in Lyncourt.

Nicotra says the company has no specific tenants at this point.
