WATERVILLE, ONEIDA CO. (AP) -- Authorities say two people remain hospitalized in central New York after they were bitten by three pit bulls.

State police tell the Observer-Dispatch of Utica that the dogs attacked 55-year-old Gary Carron last Saturday afternoon in the village of Waterville, in southern Oneida County 40 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Troopers say 35-year-old Sarah Drake, Carron's neighbor, was also bitten when she tried to pull the dogs off him.

Police say the dogs are registered to a 42-year-old man who shares a home with Drake.

Troopers say Carron was listed in serious condition after being admitted at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton. Hospital said they couldn't release his current condition to the media.

Drake was listed in fair condition at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

Police say a criminal investigation is pending.
