CANANDAIGUA (AP) -- A western New York couple has pleaded guilty to assaulting their 2-year-old son, including beating his feet with a wooden spoon.

Local media report 24-year-old Melissa Mosher-Bach and her husband, 25-year-old Corey Bach, of Canandaigua entered the pleas Monday in Ontario County Court.

Judge Craig Doran told the couple he will sentence each of them next month to five years in prison on the second-degree assault charges.

They were arrested at their home in April. Authorities said they hit their son multiple times and that the boy was malnourished and had cold water poured over him in a bathtub while strapped in a car seat. The boy, now 3, was placed in foster care with three siblings.
