Legislation to create a statewide registry to track violent felons takes another step toward becoming State Law.

New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio says the senate finance committee approved "Brittany's Law." The legislation is expected to be brought to the Senate floor next week for a vote. If it passes, it would create an online list similar to the sex offender registry that people could track.

The law is named after 12-year-old Brittany Passalacqua, who was murdered along with her mother by a violent convicted felon who had been released from prison early and put on parole just months earlier.
