The next time you log onto Facebook and a message pops up on your wall from a friend prompting you to click on the "Dislike button," don't do it.
Even though there are times we would like to reply "dislike" to a friend's post, there is no "Dislike" button.
The Facebook "Dislike" button scam, which was popular last fall, is back with a vengeance. It tricks you into clicking on it and then clogs your friend's Facebook walls with spam. Read more about it here.
Online security company Sophos warns about the potential trouble clicking on it could cause. "Clicking on the link, however, will not only forward the fake message about the so-called "Facebook Dislike button" to all of your online friends by posting it to your profile, but also run obfuscated JavaScript on your computer. The potential for malice should be obvious," the company warns on its website.
Facebook is working to prevent malicious apps from causing problems on the social network. Just last week, we told you how Facebook was rolling out security updates to prevent problems.
Have you seen this "Dislike" message? Did you click on it? Are you concerned about spam on Facebook? Do you think the company is doing enough to prevent it? Leave your thoughts below.
