SARANAC LAKE (AP) -- A golf course employee has pleaded guilty in connection with the death of a 19-year-old man he struck with a golf cart while the teen rode a skateboard on an Adirondack road.
Bernard Farley pleaded guilty this week in Franklin County Court to leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death without reporting the incident.
Prosecutors say the 44-year-old Farley was driving a golf cart with its lights off in Saranac Lake the night of June 23, 2010 when he struck Casey McHugh of Lake Clear as he was riding his skateboard lying on his back. McHugh later died at a hospital.
Farley fled the scene. Police found him at home several hours later.
Farley is expected to be sentenced in October to six months in jail and five years' probation.
