CORTLAND -- The Cortland School Board is meeting tonight to discuss the next step for the district after its budget defeat last week.
The budget that was voted down included a 7.9% tax increase and cut 6 positions. It also took $2 million from their reserve fund.
Tonight they will discuss whether to have another vote, or adopt a contingency budget.
A contingency budget would be $180,000 less than the original budget. It would include a 6.6% tax increase.
The district would not be able to purchase new equipment or student supplies in the contingency budget.
