TOWN OF LEWIS -- A West Turin man is charged with driving drunk.

State police say 72-year-old Herbert Kempkes, of 3706 Sweeney Road, was behind the wheel drunk on Monday. They say, he lost control and ended up with the car submerged in a pond on Fish Creek Road in the Town of Lewis.

Police say bystanders were able to help Kempkes get to shore safely. He was not hurt.
