SYRACUSE (AP) -- Bridgeport, Ct. police say a man wanted in connection with the 2008 killing of a woman found stabbed and beaten in a room padlocked from the outside has been captured in Syracuse.

Authorities say U.S. marshals and Syracuse police caught 53-year-old Adolph Sharp as he was riding a bicycle on Wednesday, after officials traced him to a shelter there.

The Connecticut Post reports that Sharp was charged in the killing of Sherryl Thomas in April 2008. He's being detained pending an extradition hearing.

Police say Thomas' body was found covered in blood in her home in a room that was padlocked from the outside. Neighbors told police that Thomas and her boyfriend, later identified as Sharp, had a volatile relationship.
It's not clear if Thomas has a lawyer.
