Patriotic music fills the streets of Baldwinsville as the annual Memorial Day Parade marches through the village.
"Both of my parents are in the military, I come from a military family so we think Memorial Day is really important," said Brittney Maxwell.
"We're a military family and we know, and understand what Memorial Day really is. Everyone should be out supporting the country and those who serve," said Dick DeJohn.
Red, white and blue line the streets in a showing of support for our veterans who never made it home.
"I'm representing all the korean war veterans," said Parade Grand Marshal Dick Fastenau. "I was one of the lucky ones, I made it back."
In all, more than one million Americans have served, fought and gave their lives while defending our country. More than 6,000 killed in our two on-going wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Celebrate our veterans and what they did for us, celebrate our freedom," said Bean Terry.
"Freedom isn't free," said Commander of American Legion Post 113 Paul Hernandez. "It comes at a price and there are many who have paid that price which is why it's important for us to remember them."
A salute to our fallen heroes and our troops who are still in harms way fighting to protect us. Baldwinsville's Memorial Day activities ended with a special service at Riverview Cemetary.
