ONEIDA SHORES -- Jamesville Beach and Oneida Shores were open an extra day after Memorial Day weekend.
Usually, the beaches are not open on weekdays until mid-June, but because temperatures soared into the 90s on Tuesday, the county decided to add extra hours.
At closing time at Oneida Shores, the beach was still busy. Dozens of people tried to fit in a few more minutes of fun, while the temperatures stayed high.
"It was just a hot day," says Jaquan Hunter. "It was the time to come."
Many parents said they were glad to have somewhere to take children because most local pools are not open yet.
"There's nothing," says Sarah Fielder, who brought children to Oneida Shores. "You have to bring them to keep them occupied."
Jamesville Beach and Oneida Shores are usually open from 11am-6pm Friday-Sunday. From June 20-August 21, the beaches are open daily.
