(AP) -- New York's Senate Democrats will unveil a late-session jobs program that they hope to fund with savings from budget cuts.

The jobs bill aims to create jobs, protect the unemployed from discrimination, provide training and promote the alternative energy job market.

The bills will be released at a news conference late Thursday morning in Albany.

The Democrats will need to persuade the Senate's Republican majority that the proposals will work if they are to become law. The jobs bill is being introduced with just nine days left in the scheduled legislative session.
