SCRIBA -- An Oswego County motorcyclist had to be airlifted to a local hospital after a crash Friday morning.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office tells CNY Central that around 6:24 a.m. 25-year-old Raychel L. Kennedy of Oswego was driving a 1993 Ford north on Duke Road in Scriba when she approached the intersection with State Route 104. Police say Kennedy entered the intersection, where she drove into the path of a 2002 BMW motorcycle driven by 51-year-old Scott E. Burns of East Seventh Street in Oswego. The motorcycle collided with the car and Burns was thrown from the bike, landing approximately 20 yards away to the east. Kennedy’s car drove off of the road, and came to a stop around 25 yards northeast of the crash site.

Burns was transported via ambulance and Mercy Flight helicopter to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of his undisclosed injuries.

Police say the crash remains under investigation, but believe failure to yield the right of way may have been a factor. No word yet on any possible charges in the case.
