ALBION, NY -- A man riding on a private ATV trail in Albion has died, after hitting a wire that was a foot and a half high across a trail.

State Police say 45-year-old Christopher Carrier, of Centerville Road in Pulaski, was riding just before dark when he hit the wire, that sprang up and hit him in the neck.  Carrier was thrown from the ATV and was pronounced dead a short time later at Oswego Hospital.

A passenger was also thrown from the ATV. 22-year-old Desmond Parsons, also from Centerville Road, is being treated at University Hospital for a shoulder injury.

Investigators say no charges are expected in the death.
