On hot and humid days business heats up for air conditioning companies.
"It's hectic. It's hot and people don't think about their air conditioner until they have to turn it on." said Bob Reneau with Angelo Chiodo Heating and Air Conditioning. And that's when they realize it's not working, and call Chiodo's. Wednesday, the company received 100 calls. Typically, each crew goes on about 6 to 8 calls, Wednesday it was more like 15.
Record-breaking heat had Pam Glamos turning on the cold air but when she got home from work this afternoon it was 87 degrees in her house. "We opened the door and it was very hot," said Glamos. "We started calling some air conditioning companies and everyone was busy. We just can't get the air fixed tonight."
Reneao will be fixing her air conditioner Wednesday, it's one of the many jobs already piling up on what's expected to be another hot day. He says some simple steps, and keeping up on maintenance can go a long way to keep your air conditioning running when temperatures run high.
