EATON, MADISON CO. -- Madison County Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate a serious head-on crash that injured two people, one of them seriously.
It happened around 6:15 p.m. Thursday on State Route 46 in the Town of Eaton, just about four miles south of the Village of Munnsville.
Investigators say 51-year-old Mark Williams, of Remsen, was driving a 1997 Saturn sedan when he crossed the center line, slamming into a 1996 Subaru Legacy driven by 52-year-old Ellen Englert, of Madison.
Williams had to be cut out of his car. He was later airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse in serious condition.
Englert was taken to the same hospital by ambulance in fair condition and was later released.
The investigation continues and charges are pending.
Two people are at the hospital, one of which is in critical condition after a very serious crash in Madison County.
It happened on Route 46 in Eaton.
The sheriff says two cars collided head on just outside Munnsville. One driver had to be cut from his car and was rushed to Upstate Medical on the Air One helicopter. The other driver was transported by ambulance.
Investigators are working to find family members of the victims and are not releasing their names right now.
