Flags on all state government buildings are flying at half-staff today in honor of two Fort Drum soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bradley Gaudet and Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Kenneth White died June 5th when their OH-58 Kiowa helicopter crashed in Khost province.
The two men were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division. White was from Fort Collins, Colorado. Gaudet was from Gladewater, Texas. He also has ties to Central New York. His wife Ginny is a Liverpool native. Her parents Ed and Judy Van Marter live in the Village of Liverpool, where the community is coming together to support the family.
Gaudet made it home last month in time for the birth of his daughter, Addyson Elizabeth. She was born at Crouse Hospital. Gaudet was on his third tour of duty when he was killed.
"I join with all New Yorkers in extending our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fellow soldiers of Chief Warrant Officers Bradley Gaudet and Kenneth White," said Governor Andrew Cuomo. "These fallen soldiers were stationed at Fort Drum. We mourn their passing and we remember their service to our nation with pride."
