A recent study by the American Psychological Association finds the more than a third of all workers report a chronic workplace, and say they feel stressed and undervalued at work.
Psycohologist Dr. Rich O'Neill says creating a psychologically healthy workplace can pay off for a company's bottom line. One of the major costs for employers is replacing workers who leave for a different job and the national average employee turnover is 38%. But if companies can make their workplace "healthier" they may be able to reduce that turnover rate.
Dr. O'Neill says there are a number of factors to create a healthy workplace, but the biggest is communication. Good two-way communication between management and employees is key. Making the goals and actions of the organization clear to workers and being transparent and open are also important.
