NELSON, MADISON CO. -- Police have released more information on the death of a Town of Nelson logger Wednesday.
According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, 36-year-old Brett K. Armstrong was logging on private property on Old State Road in Nelson Wednesday evening. He was there with permission. Police say Nelson was cutting down a tree when it fell and struck another tree. A tree limb approximately 15 inches thick broke off and fell on top of Armstrong.
The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled that Armstrong died from multiple traumatic injuries due to the branch hitting him. His death has been ruled accidental.
Police say Armstrong was a professional logger and was wearing safety gear at the time.

One man is dead after a logging accident in Madison County.
Sheriff's Deputies say it happened around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, about one mile into the woods behind 3926 Old State Road in the Town of Nelson, about 20 miles east of Syracuse.
Deputies are identifying the victim as 36-year-old Brett Armstrong, also of Old State Road. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Deputies say Armstrong was logging on private property, with permission, when the accident happened.
He was taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office in Syracuse for an autopsy.
Madison County Sheriff's Deputies say they are still investigating the incident.
